We recently got the chance to check out the Spin Master Gabby's Dollhouse Cakey's Kitchen. Lucas really adores Gabby's Dollhouse. He has been watching the show on Netflix ever since it first came out. He is autistic so our view on it will pertain to that notion. This kitchen is made for 3 year olds plus and Lucas is 2. There are only a few things I was worried about him using such as the small cardboard pieces.
The kitchen was actually made pretty well. I love the colors which keep in line with the theme of the show perfectly. The size of the kitchen is perfect height for him. Everything was easy to put together and took about 15 minutes to do with my partner. You'll need a few batteries for the back part. There are three things that make sounds. The stove has knobs that turn for frying and boiling sounds. They have 2 different sounds for each motion. Cakey can also be pressed down to talk or sing. My son did get a little emotional with the constant sounds but thankfully you can control that part yourself.
Nothing is perfect and so I will touch on the things I think that need improvement. I wish the cardboard pasta box and milk container were plastic. I also wish the smaller food pieces were made out of wood or plastic. My son likes to mouth things still and they have teeth marks already. I'm hoping to also replace the cardboard curtains with actual fabric at some point.
My son's favorite pieces are the pan and utensils. He will grab them all and carry them around. I think this toy kitchen is very whimsical and a favorite even if the child is not familiar with Gabby's Dollhouse.
