What we thought about Orgain Protein bars

A quick little post about my Orgain protein sampling.

We tried three flavors which were Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk. Protein bars always have a way with sounding extra delicious don't they? If only they tasted exactly like the flavor claimed! We all know how it is with them though. It seems what's good for you can sometimes have a tiny drawback with flavor usually being the culprit.

The kids didn't like these bars at all. That's fine as I think this may be more steered toward adults to get in some protein on the go with a busy lifestyle. I think younger kids may not mind the taste/texture while tweens/teens may not like it very much. I honestly thought the texture of these bars were not that great. It just put me off and I was hoping for a more granola like texture. I wish the flavors had more to offer compared to other bars. I have tasted some decent bars before from other brands but I think protein bars in general will never taste 100% delicious. The packaging is nice and was hoping to try the coffee drink but I can't find it anywhere. If I could give it 3.5 stars out of 5 that would be my rating for it.

Here's the low down on these bars

  • Plant based
  • Vegan
  • Soy free
  • Gluten free
  • Dairy free
  • Non GMO
  • 10g protein

Feel free to check out Orgain Protein on their website here: http://shop.orgain.com/?gclid=CNmstN6dzNACFQ5LDQodGncKGA

You can find Orgain protein bars at your local Target which is where I found mine. (about $6.99 for a pack of 4 )

I also peeped their products at my Wegman's .

**Thanks to Green Moms Meet for allowing me to sample Orgain Protein with my group, family and friends for free **

What I thought about Doodletopia Fairies by Christopher Hart

I'm not going to say I'm a super awesome artist because I am not the best but I can kind of draw things. I'm one of those types of people that need to look at other things for inspiration though. I can then form my own creations based on it. Landing proportions can be tough if you aren't used to it.

I decided to pick up Doodletopia Fairies to review because it looked genuinely interesting. If someone can teach me how to better my techniques then I am all for it. The book is lush and filled with many different kinds of whimsical fairies. Christopher lays out his drawing and then puts a blank slate on the next page giving you a chance to try it out. He explains the little details that will help make your creation fit the particular style/mood.

You can see his playful little style in each of his drawings. I really do love the fact that he basically puts a mannequin in the way and tells your to add or try what he says. His directions are easy to understand and straight to the point. I'm a 30 year old woman and I enjoyed filling in the details but I would totally give this to my 12 year old to play around with. Not only are you learning but it IS fun. The paper makes it easy to even color in if you want. It took color pencils really well. I only did one so far but here is what I came up with.

Can you tell what I borrowed my design from? It's an acknowledgement to Mercy from Overwatch. I love the way her face came out looking so innocent. Eyebrows are everything as well as eye shape. It will give your character the mood they need.

So I didn't even know who Christopher Hart was so I did look him up. I now recognized who he was because I have always seen his How To Draw Anime/Manga books around at Michael's arts and crafts stores. What a wonderfully talented individual.

Be sure to check out his site here where you can check out all his books: http://christopherhartbooks.com/

A big thumbs up to him and this book. It's wonderful for any age and I would most definitely recommend it.

GlassesShop.com , Stylish & Affordable Prescription Glasses for Men and Women Review

How cool are these glasses that I bought online from GlassesShop.Com!

I actually have a red pair of glasses from them for myself which you can see here on a post I made last year: http://nescasnook.blogspot.com/2015/06/glassesshopcom-cute-affordable.html

Those were more for women but this new pair I got for my boyfriend to wear which is for men. He had really old glasses from about 8 years ago but was using updated contacts. I told him it's time for something new. We went to Sears optical for the eye doctor appointment but opted to take the prescription with us to order glasses online

There were so many different styles to choose from so it was a little difficult to pick. They also had the option of prescription sunglasses but we went with regular prescription glasses. Ordering was quite simple and in the end we went with this lovely pair called BowlingGreen Rectangle in Black : http://www.glassesshop.com/eyeglasses/fp0917

These frames were only $29.95 which is crazy cheap compared to the frame cost at Sears.

Also, for an example I will let you know my boyfriend's glasses prescription ( RX)  numbers below

OD:           -3.25
Cylinder:    -0.50
Axis:          160

OS:          -3.00
Cylinder:   -0.50
Axis:         37

You also have to measure out your pupillary distance ( PD ) which can be a little tricky. His came out to 67.5 mm

There are ways you can measure it with charts online to make your life easier. You could also ask your doctor to do it for you before you leave your appointment.

I just LOVE his new glasses and he loves them, too. No one should be afraid to order glasses online because it's easy and so affordable. You also have so many options to go with online.

There is a special coupon code GSHOT50 you guys can use. This code means that you can have 50% off on eyeglasses and sunglasses with free lenses(sale frames excluded).

Try them out and see for yourself how awesome and easy it is to have affordable glasses that look great!

My Thoughts on Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons

Hey guys! So I got to try out these three pretty colors from Bite Beauty thanks to Influenster, woohoo! It's from their Matte Creme Lip Crayon line. This is my first time trying out a higher end lip product and I have to say that they applied so smoothly. The crayon shape made it really easy to put on especially for someone who isn't that adept with makeup. So to all my ladies who aren't blessed with makeup skills I think this is a great lip product to try out. There are so many different colors in this lineup but here's just three. As you know, red always seems to pop and look good on me so the Red Velvet color was awesome. I think ladies with a darker skin color may benefit greatly from Cava or Glace. I feel like it made me look too pale but it might be right with a nice smokey eye. I don't really go heavy on the eye shadow and prefer liner instead so the red is just perfect for my particular style. You can find these pretty lip colors at Sephora. #TheMatteCremeLip #Influenster #BiteBeauty #gotitfree

Feel free to browse some photos I took wearing all three lip colors below. Bear in mind that I am in no way a makeup wizard or guru. I'm just a simple gal who loves easy to use/apply makeup. I know I'm not the only one out there who has trouble finding the right pieces of makeup to use when you can't apply it properly. I admit it..I am guilty of being awful at makeup but high end products make it so much easier to work with it. Trust me! Thank you Influenster and Bite Beauty for letting this everyday average girl try out your awesome stuff. Watch out Sephora because I'm coming to check out your Bite Beauty products soon!

The Secret Language of Dogs by Victoria Stilwell and Dog Fostering

So I decided to go into dog fostering. Yay! I wanted to do something good in my life and looked into this extensively. I don't think anything will prepare you for that first Foster though. You will learn everything after that first experience.

This book has certainly helped me a bunch with my first Foster, Mimi. She's a Bichon Frise and Poodle mix. She has so much energy and her moods constantly changed. I looked through this book for every little thing she did. I used to have a dog about 10 year ago but his personality was completely different from Mimi. He was an American Eskimo (See photo of fluffy white dog howling below- not my dog but same breed). He would lay down when I sat down and follow me everywhere. He was an outstanding dog. Mimi was obviously a damaged dog. I would put on my shoes and if I lifted my shoe too high she would flinch. I knew she was hit in the past. She barked constantly at anything and everything. I'll go more into this soon.

The Secret Language of Dogs was laid out so thoughtfully. The pictures in the book are gorgeous. You will learn everything you need from this book to help you learn cues. It maps out every single behavior quite clearly along with some depictions. You will learn playing, aggression, depression, fear and anger. There's not much to say but this book is pretty awesome. It's just been such a big help to me. I'd totally recommend it for anyone getting a new dog or thinking about fostering a dog.

A little more on Mimi. I have only had her for a few days but I have learned so much from her. Here's my advice for first time dog Foster parents. Have pee pads on hand. You never know the complete background of a dog sometimes. Even if they have perfect "housebroken" habits they can change completely while with you. Mimi never peed in the house until I noticed at bed time she would pee on a pee pad while everyone slept. It was apparent she couldn't hold it in for 8 hours even though she eliminated outside perfectly.

Then there was the barking. Nothing will prepare you for the constant barking. A big help is having treats and toys on hand. I wouldn't reward the barking. Just wait for it to stop when you say NO barking and THEN reward. I also tried crating her when she would not stop barking. I walked away and when I went back to her I found ripped up pee pads. She had become destructive when I left her alone.

Separation anxiety is probably a big problem in dogs who are moved around constantly. You will have to be prepared for the dog not wanting to leave your side. You are all they know in their lonely little world where they came from. Be gentle but be firm when you need to.

I think I have learned that I will be mostly trying to inquire about older dogs to Foster. Little Mimi is 3 years old and she still exhibits a bunch of puppy behavior. I am more inclined to Foster a dog who just wants to lay around most of the day by my side and go for walks 3-4 times a day.

Also, be mindful of your pets you already have home. My cats have never been around a dog before so it was crazy new to them. They hissed and growled constantly. My grey cat , Theon got used to Mimi pretty quickly soon after and my other cat felt comfortable enough to lay around but still hissed if she got near him. I feel like it was a good experience to have them get comfortable with a dog so they will already know for the future.

Definitely check out the book if you decide on getting a new dog. If you have any Foster tips of your own let me know in the comments section, thanks!!
