Back to School with Sambucol

It's that time of the year again when the kids start to get ready to go back to school. I can barely call them kids anymore because my two are teenagers but that doesn't make them immune to sickness. It never fails that when they go back to school they end up bringing back a cold to share with us lovingly at home. So here we have discovered the amazing line of natural products Sambucol has to offer to help combat and prevent sickness.

What do all these products have in common? They all use Elderberry. The berries and flowers of elderberry are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that may boost your immune system. They can help tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart, too.

Some experts recommend elderberry to help prevent and ease cold and flu symptoms.

It’s also been used as a treatment for:

Constipation
Joint and muscle pain
Infections that affect how you breathe
Headaches
Fever
Kidney problems
Epilepsy
Minor skin conditions
Stress

It's truly an amazing berry!

I have been distributing out the Black Elderberry gummy samples to family members and friends. Everyone seems to like it and all the benefits it can provide. It's definitely better than swallowing pills. It's something quick and easy to remember. Both of my kids can easily take their gummies in the morning before school.

I'm not sure how the syrup tastes. Nobody has become sick but I will definitely update this later on because I know someone will end up bringing a bug home. We are totally prepared for that!

I did try out the throat lozenge because my throat felt scratchy. It's a taste I have never tasted before so it's hard to describe. It's not bad but it's not the best thing in the world. I tend to think of it as hard cough drops except without the overly harsh menthol taste which I hate. It does the job to soothe and it's not terrible for my body.

Like I said, no one has been sick lately but these are such a cool concept. I don't think I have ever seen a quick dissolve tablet like this for colds. I can't wait to give these a go since they are truly convenient.

Sambucol can easily be found in stores around you or you can even purchase the products online.
You can buy it on Amazon or Lucky Vitamin.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! Beyond the Bizarre + Special Anniversary Edition 100 years 2019 Preview

It's that time of the year again when Ripley's publishes a new book for the year. I always look forward to it because it has been a childhood staple of mine. When you're into the weird oddities of life there's nothing better than flipping through every single page of these books.

Ripley's is also celebrating it's 100th year out there so they have a newly published magazine which is fantastic. You can look through and see all the memorable curiosities they have talked about in past publications.

Obviously, I can't tell you every single thing that's in the book or else I would be giving away the content but I can give you a little sneak peak.

So we have a lovely spread of incredible pumpkin carvings ( People are now even carving melons and gourds) . I thought this would be nice to feature since Halloween is right around the corner. That Joker carving from Batman is probably my favorite one but the details that went into the White Walker from Game of Thrones is unbelievable.

**Sorry the photo loaded in upside down **

Next you can take a look at White Wild. They have a whole section dedicated to animals. Here you can see a bunch of rare albino animals found in the wild. I think the Albino Humpback whale is so interesting. This big guy was spotted out in Queensland , Australia.

**Sorry the photo decided to load in sideways**

I thought the Quaint Qur'an was neat! It's super tiny and must have taken so much patience to make. The owner is located all the way in Indonesia. He also printed it in Gold Ink.

The next page shows Tea in Bloom. I actually have had experience with this because I know how popular clear glass teapots are now due to this. It's so lovely getting to see the flowers bloom in the hot water. I'm not crazy about the tastes I have tried out but I'm sure you can see for yourself. True tea lovers will enjoy this.

The Dachshund Museum is located in Passau, Germany. If you're a fan of this breed of dog then you should definitely go take a visit abroad. There are tons of cool Dachshund related things for you to feast your sights on.

I love Cosplay so I had to show the feature on Watery Cosplay. It shows and talks about photographers who capture amazing shots underwater. The Harley Quinn is adorable!! The female version of Thor looks gorgeous. Hmm , I wasn't impressed with the Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus shot from the Sailor Moon Series. What do you think?

So giving you that little sneak peak I hope I have piqued your interest to check out both the new book and magazine. It's good for people of all ages to enjoy. Make sure to check out your local book store to find it. I'm pretty sure Barnes and Noble will have it. It will be available for purchase August 27, 2019.

Defeating Dalaran Heist 1st Try Deck - The Rise of Shadows Hearthstone

Well, I thought it would be harder than what it was but I actually defeated all the bosses on my first go. Here's the deck I went with so you can see what I used. I think one of the biggest factors to my win was going with the passive of being able to use high cost cards early with their cost reduction and only using 2 at a time. It wasn't a drawback at all! I think it was called Gaudy Clothes or something like that. Then I later on picked something that gave a stat boost to all my cards in my deck when played. I also picked a +1/+1 passive card that gave me so much stats.

Please click on the photos to see generally how my deck was constructed and what I went with. Thanks for stopping by and have fun!!

Actually , my boyfriend has been enjoying it also so maybe it would be a great option for men who don’t like strong girly scents .

What Is Activated Charcoal?

Activated charcoal, also called activated carbon is obtained by burning natural materials such as wood, regular coal, peat or coconut husks. The source material is burned at a very high temperature to form a lightweight mass of carbonaceous charcoal. It means that all the oxygen was removed from source material through controlled oxidation and or processing by steam.

Thanks to this process, the charcoal expands creating a porous surface that traps toxins. From this point, we can refer to charcoal as “activated” charcoal. Its natural ability to absorb has been boosted this way. That’s why this fine black powder has a higher efficiency and its maximum usability for the body.

5 Skin Benefits of Activated Charcoal Soap

1. Takes Care of Oily Skin

Oily skin? Many of you might be fed up with trying out innumerable ways to treat oily skin. It gets even worse during the summer season. Activated charcoal may be just the ingredient you need to balance things out. Activated charcoal soap can pull the unwanted excess oils from your skin along with the dirt from the skin. This gives you an oil-free, smooth look. Moreover, it also effectively removes unwanted oil from the face as well from the body.

2. Deep Cleans Your Skin

Charcoal soap has the perfect ability to control facial oil, it’s also effective in the removal of dead cells, thus providing clean and flawless skin. It works wonders on clearing the pores of the impurities which are responsible for blackheads. It works by absorbing oil, deep-seated debris and environmental pollutants to detoxify the skin. After using it, your skin should feel smooth and your pores should be visibly refined. It gives an amazing deep cleanse because toxins stick to the activated charcoal.

3. Help Reducing Acne

Depending on the specifics of your acne, how severe it is, what’s causing it and what else is going on, activated charcoal may be able to help. Charcoal soap is known to be highly activated charcoal soapbeneficial in the treatment of acne. Soap with activated carbon will also adsorb toxins and remove skin impurities and oils on and below the skin. This way soap eliminates acne. Sometimes it even clears facial marks resulting from acne.

4. Reduces Pore Size

Throughout the day, dirt, toxins are settling over your pores making them more noticeable and enlarged in appearance. When your pores aren’t clear, neither is your complexion. Charcoal soap is the best solution for this as Activated carbon binds to and helps pull the dirt and grime out of your pores, making them less visible and reduces their size. This leaves your face feeling fresh.

5. Very Gently Exfoliates

The texture of charcoal makes for a gentle natural exfoliator. Soap with activated carbon is slightly gritty, which might provide just the gentle exfoliating you need. It helps to remove dead skin cells along with the extraction of dirt and grime from the skin, while its antimicrobial properties help prevent skin infections. Essential oils further boost bactericidal properties, therefore, our activated charcoal soap is coupled with tea tree essential oil, which has antibacterial, antiseptic properties and the ability to treat skin disorders including acne, blemishes.

Great Tips for Fostering Kittens On Your Own

🐱 Great Tips for Fostering Kittens On Your Own 🐱

1. Enclosure 🏡

Whether it's 1 or a litter of 6 you will need a proper enclosure. We like to use zippered pen enclosures that can be found on Amazon or Chewy. If you're low on cash then you can simply use a plastic storage bin from Walmart that is tall ( You don't want the kittens escaping as they get older and this will only work up until a certain age). Do NOT use the lid if you do this so they can get proper air flow.

If you have a spare cat/dog carrier then you can use that in the early stages as its perfect for nesting and easy to manage with a heat pad.

2. Keep kittens warm ☀️

You will need a heating pad for the babies if they are under 4 weeks old. I like the ones that don't turn off on their own. My favorite is from Sunbeam and is only $15 at Walmart. It has a low, medium and high setting. Once they are older you can give them a nice little round pet bed with a fleece blanket to keep them cozy. ( I keep a disposable pad under the blanket so if they pee it goes on that and not on the bed. Change the blanket and pee pad once every few days)

3. Feeding 🍼

Please check feeding schedule in photo. I am in love with the Miracle Nipple Syringe feeding technique and would never go back to a bottle. This is the easiest way to feed a baby kitten. They can be ordered online through Amazon. In an emergency situation a regular baby pet bottle can be used and can be found in many pet stores locally or Walmart.

You can buy Kitten Milk Replacement or KMR locally in powder form or ready made cans. I like the powder because it keeps fresh longer and I can customize my batches when I need them. It's usually 1 scoop of powder to 2 scoops of warm/hot water. Mix well.

Remember to feed slowly and let the baby latch onto the nipple to suckle mainly on its own. If you go to fast you can aspirate the baby. Give it breaks in between to breathe. You can set the baby down on a towel or blanket on its legs so its in a standing position while feeding. NEVER feed a kitten on its back like a human baby. They can aspirate the milk.

4. Helping kittens to Pee/Poop 💩

Related imageImage result for unscented baby wipes

So when you are done feeding each kitten you will need to help them pee and poop. You can use a wet paper towel/washcloth or baby wipes. I like to use fragrance free wipes and either paper towel underneath them / disposable pad cut in a small piece. (Cut the pad in squares to make one last longer)

You will need to gently rub on the genital area until pee comes out. Gently wipe the kitty's anus to stimulate for poop. Kitty will not need to poop with every single feeding so don't get too worried. If kitty doesn't poop after about 30 seconds then put it back to sleep. Try to have your kitten poop at least once/twice a day.

5. Keeping Kitty Clean 💦

Mom cats keep their babies really clean and do a great job at it. It's really hard to replicate this. Your kittens will smell funky after a few days of peeing on themselves (It will happen while they are in their nest) They might pee or poop on each other. If this happens you will need to bathe them in warm water with dish soap/baby shampoo/ or a natural pet shampoo that's simple. Try not to soak the head and wash whats important which is the bottom half. You can rub any spots up top with your fingers/water/soap.

Completely dry off the baby so it doesn't get hypothermia. Don't wash them too often. Like I said, a big litter of babies will smell often.

6. Questions? 🤔

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to comment and I will try to answer you.

Mihara Shinmei-ichi Daruma Festival 2019

The Mihara Shinmei-ichi Daruma Festival, in Hiroshima, is one of the largest festivals in Japan celebrating the tradition of the Daruma. It has to do with Shinto mythology of sorts. I won't explain too deeply but people basically buy these brightly colored dolls and make wishes or goals. Once they accomplish one goal or wish they paint one eye in. They then make a second eye for the other. They will bring their doll to the festival to burn it and then buy a new one.

I am fortunate enough to have a Japanese friend who lives in Hiroshima. I asked him to share some photos with me of the festival. I hope you enjoy these snapshots of Mihara.

I will put some caption above the photos as he has explained to me.

This is the Mihara Harbor Port.
